Bill McGarrity arrived at Georgetown a second team all-Catholic selection from St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia, averaging 15.3 points per game his senior season. After a promising freshman season at Georgetown where he shot 58 percent from the field en route to a 15.7 point, 11.6 rebound average in 1967-68, early injuries set McGarrity back as a sophomore and he never was a factor, appearing in just six games and none after mid-January of the season.

Additional research is needed on McGarrity's career after Georgetown. There are reports he transferred to Temple University, but does not appear on the Owls' contemporary rosters.
